Recently, I find it interesting to interact on Twitter. I have more than 1700 Twitter followers who are actively tweeting on Twitter. I am using from Twitter these few days to promote my blog and some other products and I see some good improvement in terms of traffic. So, in this article, I am going to share some lights about Twitter and the how-to(s ) of using Twitter to drive traffic to your blog.
I notice that there are a lot of top bloggers are having more than 100,000 Twitter followers. They only need to write one new articles and tweet it to Twitter, tens of thousands of people will start flooding their blog. Imagine how easy it is for them to get visitors and traffic to their blog. That is so simple!
What is Twitter?Twitter is a site where you can share a short message in less than 140 characters to all your Twitter followers. Twitter is also known as a microblog. In other words, a platform that works like a blog but the blog post is shorter in length. Twitter is a great place for interaction and find out what your followers are interested in.Why use Twitter?Twitter is the fastest way to get updates about your followers and about the people you are following. Twitter has over 500 million users worldwide. It is just like Facebook but the amount of users are not as high as Facebook. The activity on Twitter is very high. (You have to try Twitter to believe it!)
How to Tweet for The Best Twitter Effect
Submitting short messages to Twitter is so addictive that you will keep on submitting non-stop. The problem of most people is that their tweet is not getting large amount of views and retweet. The aims of using Twitter are to:
- More Followers
- Get more traffic
- Get the message out to the crowd
These are what we aim to do. The more retweet we get, the more people gets to see our tweets. The more followers we have, the more people see our tweet, the more traffic we get and it is easier for us to send our messages to more people.
Retweet Retweet Retweet...
This is the most important part of using Twitter. I am aiming to get a lot of retweet for my articles. This is the way to gain more exposure to my articles and indirectly gain more followers to my Twitter account. I tried to tweet my articles on Twitter but I found that it is not attracting retweet and not attracting views. So, I started to find ways to tweet on Twitter for the best effect.
Twitter Hash Tag
Twitter hash tag is a very useful feature on Twitter. The hash tags are popular tags used by Twitter users. It works like "label" in our blogger account. By using hash tags, people can easily find related tweets by clicking on the hash tags.
For example: #blogging"How to Tweet Effectively on Twitter" #blogging.
The example above shows you the "#blogging" tag is being used in Twitter message. By placing the hash tag, you are actually "label" your tweet as "blogging". So,when people are looking for "#blogging" or click on "#blogging", your tweet are listed there!
Imagine that you have all your articles tweeted as "#blogging", how many people will come to your blog? Twitter hash tags are actually our second blog for us to tag our articles so that other Twitter users can find our articles easily on Twitter. Isn't that amazing?
Twitter Alias Tag
Another function of Twitter is the alias tags. Alias tags are used when you want to tag people to your tweet. This is another amazing function. It works just like Facebook tag. By tagging people on Twitter, your tweet will appear other that person's Twitter page.
But, by using the alias tag, the chances of people seeing your tag is very low because the amount of updates are too much and too fast that he/she will not notice your tag. So, I still prefer using the hash tag which is more effective. If you want to tag me on Twitter, you can tag me @sdas86
For example: @sdas86

If you write like the tweet above, I might be checking your tweet. :) Twitter has been around for years and only now I found the power of using Twitter. It is because there are too many social networks that are keeping me busy. It is not easy to keep up to date with all the updates everyday.
If you are not using Twitter, why not give it a try? You can see some good results if you make proper use of it. Try Twitter and tweet your articles to Twitter, it is a source of backlinks for your blog too. You can check my article about "How to Add Social Bookmark Bar to Your Blog Posts". In that article, I have written how you can add social bookmarking links to your blog posts to enable your blog reader to tweet, digg, stumbleupon, delicious and Facebook your articles.
